SiaB, 10Nov 2009

Tuesday afternoon, 10 November:
Tonight, it begins. Not the "Walk...", but a preliminary "Sleep in a Box"(SiaB) event being staged on the grounds of the state capitol.

Of the thousands of people who nightly on this island are trying to find a way to get some sort of roof over their sleep, corrugated cardboard that was originally designed to hold appliances and whatever during shipping is a frequent source to provide that roof.

This is the first year that the SiaB has been added as a preliminary event on the eve of the "Walk..." I hope to have some pix posted here later showing participants in this evening's "camp out."

Registration for the first day of hiking will continue through tomorrow morning with a tentative start for the "Walk..." to commence around 8am.

Wednesday am, 11 November:
The boxes have come and gone on the state capitol grounds...but not without some entertainment from both God and man....

Oh.....wait a minute......that's the surf break known as "flies" off Kaka`ako Park. I shot that at sunset two days ago. Sorry

Here's the evidence of the entertainment provided by man....the actual video of the street art performance is almost 15 minutes long and would have taken 2 hours to upload...so you only get to see the shot of the finished product.

Ok, I changed my mind. Here's the twelve and a half minute video showing how the finished product above was created....

....'n here's the evidence of the entertainment provided by God. This is an attempt to show the rain coming down throughout the late night and early morning....as shot from hiding behind my bicycle with nothing but cardboard keeping me somewhat dry. My handle bars off-screan-right are the only architecture of my 'residence' that is keeping the melting cardboard off of me by acting as the center pole of my cardboard tent.
